Chargot, Somerset, England

The Chargot Estate is one of Exmoor’s great shoots. Located half an hour west of Taunton in Somerset, it has been established for over 30 years.  Roxtons has been closely involved with this shoot since the early days.

During this time the estate has seen many changes and improvements, particularly during recent years where the owner has stopped at nothing to enhance and get the very best, from the stunning topography of deep coombes and high cleeves.

One of Chargot’s greatest assets is its 350 acres of meticulously planted game crops. These areas provide long, sustained, but controlled flushes of birds throughout the season, over the expectant gun line.

Partridge and pheasant shooting starts from early October and on nearly every drive there is a spectacular mix of quarry throughout the day.

Langham Farm, right in the heart of the shoot is the focal point for the day. This is where teams meet for tea and coffee in the morning, by the large roaring wood fire, before returning for a delicious lunch and at the end of the day, afternoon tea.

A representative from Roxtons will be there on hand to host the day , to ensure the day runs seamlessly.

Chargot boasts some of the most famous drives in the country and the quality of birds really is of the highest standard. Spitfire, Melanie’s, Holly’s, Fat Hen, Lords and Langham test even the most experienced and competent teams of guns.

A range of excellent accommodation is available locally, from private houses to local pubs. We are able to recommend suitable places to stay and constantly monitor the ones we suggest.

This estate, within a National Park, endorses a strict fibre wad only policy.
