La Villa de Maria Behety Lodge Week 6 Report, 2020

Fishing picked up this week, floating lines and small flies worked well, until the river rose. Once the water levels came up sinking lines and big flies were the go to.
Due to the regular weekly rain the river is in great condition and at a wonderful height. 90 fish were landed, 12 fish over 15 lbs, 1 fish over 20 lbs, Average weight 8,5 lbs. David S was top rod last week with 21 fish landed. Karen R got the biggest fish at 23 lbs.

Water Conditions
Water colour and visibility: Very clear water until Wednesday when the river rose and coloured a little.
Water temperature: 10 c to 14 c.

Fishing Conditions

Flies that are working best: EMB, Tarantula, Green Machine and Sunray Shadow. Big flies for the last hour: big tube flies, leeches and intruders.
Fly lines (tips, heads, lengths, densities, etc) that are producing: Skagit heads with different lengths of T-17, T-14, T-11.
Floating lines were the best, using Tarantula, Green Machine, Sunray Shadows, most of the time dead drifting. We stripped the green machine to keep it in the surface.
Length and strength of tippet and leaders: 7 to 14 feet. 15 to 20 pounds. When the river coloured, we switched to sinking lines and big flies( intruders, leeches, tubesflies).
Most of the fish were in the lower and middle part of the river, upper part is fishing better each week but yet to catch the lower sections up. We are now catching a variety of fresh and coloured fish.
