“Where do I start!
What a great experience the entire trip to ‘bottom of the World’ really has been. The almost 10,000 mile journey- though long – was helped by the overnight in Buenos Aires aided with any jet lag and in truth – the three hour time differential was easy to overcome.
Once on the river, all that was erased. Safe to say I have never had a fishing experience like VMB. Whereas previous visitors may correctly say it looked a tough week mainly down to numbers caught – perhaps it was by comparison to previous years, but for me it was extraordinary. I never have encountered so much action in a river. Bites/takes were very frequent – even though I lost three or four fish all week, yet even during two blank sessions there was activity and the guides were magnificent. They tried so hard for us – we fished hard to the point of exhaustion and once or twice by fall of darkness I was physically spent! But for all the right reasons.
The company of our group was excellent at all times – a most convivial and interesting group. Again I was so lucky as all were so helpful with advice from past experiences. We dined on Michelin Star food – from a new chef apparently. He was brilliant as were his many culinary delights. The cellar needs no introduction and remains remarkably well stocked.
I have omitted to describe the incredible wildlife seen – Beaver (swimming close-by in the river), Guanacos, Andean Condor (magnificent), Eagles, wild Foxes, Wildfowl of many descriptions etc. etc. But nothing beat the amazing Sea-Trout and this was a slightly underwhelming week due mainly to low water. It was windy from time to time which made casting very difficult on occasions, but this was expected.
Overall, this was the fishing trip of my lifetime. It was exactly as I hoped.
Ever so many thanks for all your organisational efficiency to make it all happen- it is not surprising that anglers virtually always want to return.”
